SNOW DAY!

Photos of Barnes taking ages to upload, but eventually here.

Transport update: All buses cancelled, no trains from Barnes Bridge, and any tube stations near me are in the sections listed as ‘part suspended’. Essentially, anything overground is closed.

Yes, I know, it’s not that much snow, it’s not that big a deal. But I’d rather be here with 6 inches than back in CT with 6 inches and still having to go to work!

For the first time since we moved to the UK in 2004, I am proud to tell people I am American. Well done, voters. We did it.

I hate my hometown

So I sent in my absentee ballot request the other week and since it was later than the start of October, I completed my federal write-in ballot. I stupidly believed that my town clerk would honour the write-in ballot (since it’s supposed to!).

And yet on Friday I came home to find my absentee ballot at my door with my write-in ballot enclosed (never opened) with a note (pic to follow) that they need it back by the 4th of November if I want it to count. WHAT?!?!

I just had to pay £34 to get my vote back in time. But I’m sure as hell not going to let my vote slide given the last 2 elections and the last 8 years. Screw you, Madison!

And so ends my only political rant ever to appear on this site.

First blog, ugly page. Bear with me on this, I’m learning as I go. It won’t be fancy right off the bat, but I hope to spruce it up gradually.

This blog isn’t going to be based on anything in particular. In fact, it’s most likely going to be random thoughts in a stream-of-consciousness-like roll.

My co-stars will often be: my husband, my cat, my photos and my Club.

I hope you’ll like what is soon to follow, but I can’t make any promises. In the meantime, check out the lovely bloggers I follow regularly. They’re guaranteed to have some good reading material during the wait.
